Meet Isla

Communication Specialist & Acting Coach

I have a keen interest in people, and an abiding passion for storytelling, how it shapes our lives.

Originally from South Africa, I re-trained at the prestigious Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where I specialised in Classical Acting.   I have been privileged in my acting career to work with world-class talents like actors Sir Ian McKellen and Olivier award winner Denise Gough, as well as renowned directors Sean Matthias and Jeremy Herrin.  I have also been fortunate to perform in some of the UK's best venues, including at the Edinburgh Festival, Bush Theatre, Royal National Theatre, and in London's West End.  My focus has always been theatre, but I have also worked on screen in film and television, including appearing in BBC Three's comedy Uncle.

Since 2016, I have primarily been teaching Acting and working as a Communications consultant, while also working on my PhD in gender and leadership in performance, which will be published early next year (2021).  You can read more about my PhD here, and find my teaching CV below.
